Los Angeles LAN

Los Angeles is one of the two cities that we are expanding to.  We are using the following networking devices in this LAN:

  • Cisco 2811 Router

    • IOS = C2800NM-IPVOICE_IVS-M

      • Needed for VoIP Gatekeeper functionality

  • Cisco Catalyst 2960 Switch

    • 24 100 Mbps ports / 2 Gb uplink ports

  • PIX 501 Firewall

  • Adtran Atlas 500

    • Frame relay connection to LA

We chose to employ sub-interfaces on the serial links to facilitate the ease of adding future frame relay connections.

  • Adtran ACE TSU

    • Point to Point connection to New York

  • Cisco 7940 IP Phone

    • 555-4000

Computer in this LAN:

LADC

This computer is running Windows 2003 Server.  The only program we have installed on this machine is Symantec Anti-Virus for system protection.  This server functions as the company’s secondary Active Directory server and the Los Angeles LAN DNS.

LA Linux

This computer is running Linux Fedora Core 2.  We have added the Webmin program which provides GUI based configuration tools that allows you to configure, start, and stop services not only at the local machine but remotely as well.  We have activated SSH to allow for a secure connection in order to make changes that must be done in command line.  We are also running DHCP in order to provide computers in this LAN with IP addresses.

Virtual

This computer is running Windows 2003 Server.  The programs we have installed on this machine are Symantec Anti-Virus for system protection and VMWare which allows virtual machines to run on top of it.

LANovell

This server is running Netware 6.5.  The program we have installed on this machine is Groupwise which provides e-mail service for this LAN.  This server is a virtual machine that runs on top of the computer Virtual.
